POP-UP WORKSHOP:

"Makers & Innovators: where every garage is a potential micro-factory & every citizen a potential micro-entrepreneur."

SYNOPSIS:

“Launching a startup isn't easy, especially a social venture in Africa. It is literally a neverending set of challenges, but it is also one of the most gratifying experiences one can ever have in life. We'll walk through some of the steps every entrepreneur needs to take to get a startup off the ground. I’ll share my experiences and some of the lessons I’ve learned during the first year of codeX, and chat about some of the ways students can take the next step to launch the project they are most passionate about.”

BIO:

“I'm the founder of KAT-O, a hardware/technology prototyping company, which hosts #TechTalkCPT, and the founder of Cape Town's electronics and maker communities Arduino Cape Town and the Modern Alchemists. I also recently became a partner in Curiosity Campus. With a background in instrumental and electronic composition, I got into electronics so that she could help make everyday objects come to life with sound, allowing the manipulation, interaction and/or processing of sound more accessible to the public. This lead me to complete my Master’s in Sonic Art from the Sonic Arts Research Centre (SARC) at Queen’s University in Belfast.”
